Consumer Narrative

From XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX fraudulent charges totaling {$900.00} were made on my Bank of America credit card. This card had been inactive for over 1 year, with my last authorized charges occuring in XXXX of XXXX. I noticed these fraudulent charges when my credit monitoring through XXXX XXXX alerted me to an otherwise inactive account becoming active. On that day, I locked my card and attempted to report the fraudulent charges through the app, however, the app would not allow me to report the charges as fraudulent and notified me that I would need to call the fraud center during business hours. On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke to the fraud center and reported all of these charges as fraudulent. During that conversation, I noted that I was still in possession of my physical credit card. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a notice that my claim was denied because the company determined that my physical card was used to make the purchased, and all charges were reinstated on my account. On that same day, I spoke with a banker in person at a Bank of America branch. The fraud department was closed on that day due to it being a holiday weekend, so we were unable to reopen my claim. However, when talking with the banker, we determined that the card I had in my possession had actually expired in XX/XX/XXXX, and I do not have in my possession a new card that was issued at that time. On XX/XX/XXXX I called and spoke with a representative from the fraud department to update them with this information and re-open my claim. I was told at that time that the claim was re-opened. During this process, a new card had been mailed to me ; I never activated this card or unlocked my card through the app. However, on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX new charged were noted as " pending '' on my account. On XX/XX/XXXX I spoke to the fraud department to report these charges as fraudulent as well and request an update on my original claim for {$900.00}. The new claim was started ( and a temporary credit issued to my account ), but I was told there were no updated on my original claim. All charges made to this account in the year XXXX are fraudulent and in no way authorized by me.
