Consumer Narrative

The highest balance on this SYNCHRONY BANK TJX card was {$950.00}. According to my email receipts, on XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted a payment of {$950.00} in an attempt to pay this card off in FULL. Synchrony bank rejected this payment and sent the payment back without notice. Instead of communicating this rejection to me, SYNCHRONY sent notice of a past-due balance on my account. Even when shown proof that I made an attempt to pay the full balance off and had ZERO communication from SYNCHRONY that my payment was sent back, SYNCHRONY made a negative mark on my credit report and refused to rectify this issue. I then made another payment on XX/XX/XXXX for {$800.00}, which left my balance at {$150.00}. This payment was accepted, and when I called SYNCHRONY to confirm the payment was accepted, I was informed that my account was closed because of a late payment, which was FALSE. As of XXXX, Synchrony is claiming that I have a balance of {$780.00} on this account that has been closed since XX/XX/XXXX. SYNCHRONY has a history of predatory practices against consumers like myself, and SYNCHRONY 'S predatory, false and arguably immoral credit reporting has been a major negative stain on the health of my credit. Additionally, because of this fraudulent reporting by SYNCHRONY TJX, my credit account with SYNCHRONY ASHLEY FURNITURE was closed as well, despite having XXXX missed payments. This fraudulent negative mark on my credit report recently caused ALL 3 of my CAPITAL XXXX credit cards to be closed altogether as well, despite all XXXX accounts being in good standing. I have since opened an investigation to try and get XXXX XXXX to reopen my accounts, but the chances of success are low, as XXXX XXXX is citing that their decision was based on this negative reporting from SYNCHRONY TJX. SYNCHRONY Bank 's fraudulent, predatory behavior has truly been the source of much mental and emotional stress in my life. To this day, I wish that I had the due diligence to do my research on SYNCHRONY bank prior to opening store credit cards with them, because this entire experience has been so exhausting to deal with and my credit has not yet been able to fully heal from this. After over a year of research I've learned that my case is NOT unique, and I am not alone in this experience. I urge the CFPB to do something and bring SYNCHRONY to justice. American consumers like myself are suffering greatly.
