Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/year> someone had stolen my card information and pin and proceeded to withdraw money all over town in the amount of {$9000.00}. USAA did not even catch the fraud taking place. I was at work with a XXXX for the XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Florida. When it called they credited the amount. On XX/XX/year> i woke up to - {$8100.00} in my bank account. The first representative accused me of spending the money saying I had gone grocery shopping and forgot. I called back and another representative said they would have a fraud specialist call me back. When the fraud special called they stated because it was a chip card with the pin in the same geographical location they closed their investigation after telling me previously they had ruled in my favor. Now they wanted a letter from the judge and a police report within 48 hours or they would close the re review. I spent the entire Friday driving around from one police station to the next because of jurisdiction. The cops wanted to know why the bank did not subpoena the cameras already to prove it was me who made the transaction. I had also notified them of an earlier possibly related incident where I had used a USAA ATM that had a card skimmer in it 3 weeks earlier and the police said it was entirely possible they got my information, waited for me to get a new card, and made a dummy card. They also said it is easier for the bank to go to another bank which XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX were XXXX places the fraudulent transactions took place at to subpoena the cameras than it was for them. The police now have an open investigation XXXX Police department case number XXXX. USAA wants me to do all the investigating now that they have ruled against me. They refuse to do any further investigating even though I have provided the letter and the case number for them to correspond with the police department. I was supposed to have received a call back from a fraud XXXX XX/XX/year> and have still received no phone call. The judge is was with, the Honorable Judge XXXX XXXX provided a letter stating I was with her from XXXX to XXXX which is the time these transactions took place. They have now placed my account in the negative and are holding on to {$840.00} of my money that was left in the account. Since then I have closed everything and gone to XXXX XXXX except the checking since I am hoping I will get my money back. Please help me put a fire under them to do a proper investigation other than a geographical location.
