Consumer Narrative

I called the collection agency after being notified by all three credit bureaus that a collection debt was placed on my credit reports. Spoke to someone in regard to the validation of the debt owed. Once they told me over the phone what it was for, I explained to them that the debt wasn't mine but my daughter in law. they claimed that it was mine because I cosigned for her. At this point the individual became irate and belligerent, used foul language and told me they would sue me for the amount. I ask them to send me a copy of the paperwork, but they refused and hung up. I contacted the rental company, they explained to me that my daughter in law stayed past the lease end date, and that an agreement was made between her and the leasing manager. I explained to them that my legal liability ended with lease termination date. That never resided at the dwelling which in is in Georgia. No such agreements were made between I and the leasing company, and such communications with me as to what was going on in the rental property. The company continues to add interest every week on such debt. I called the collection agency after being notified by all three credit bureaus that a collection debt was placed on my credit reports.
