I have an account at JP Morgan Chase. I live in XXXXXXXX XXXX I put in the XXXX mail on or around XX/XX/year> a check, payable to XXXX Treasury, for a tax payment, in the amount of {$120000.00}. I found out on XX/XX/year> that someone stole the check from the XXXX mail, " washed '' the check, and cashed in at a XXXX branch for {$49000.00}. In other words, I lost {$49000.00}. I made a claim to my bank JP Morgan Chase on XX/XX/year> by telephone. I filed required written declaration on XX/XX/year> through the JP Morgan XXXX I use in XXXX XXXX The form I filed said that I should make a claim with the XXXX XXXX XXXX, which I did, but that - unless I knew the name of the person who stole the check- I should not file a police report. I was told that it would take 60 - 90 days to hear back. On or around the 90th day in XX/XX/year>, I was told that I had to file a police report. I filed a police report on or around XX/XX/year> and brought it to the branch on or around XX/XX/year>. Despite a number of inquiries, I have been told that the claim is pending and I will hear back at some unspecified time. I have called a number of times and have inquired through the branch as well as through the elevated complaint process at the branch. I have never received a commitment as to when the complaint will be resolved. I also understand that under the NY XXXX the bank must make good on the lost funds.
