Synchrony Bank which does financing for Amazon XXXX. Charged approx {$990.00} dollars XX/XX/year> with 6 month deferred interest. Overpayments made after were applied to the deferred interest as opposed to the non promotional balance. XX/XX/year> shows owing aprox XXXX on promotional and now have to pay {$650.00} on non promotional or pay interest. I asked why the overpayments were not applied to non promotional. There is no way to break out where you pay when making payment. I requested that the overpayments be corrected and applied to the non promotional and was declined with the following response. Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your Amazon Store Card account, and the opportunity to be of service to you. Federal Regulations require that we apply amount in excess of the minimum payment amount first to the card balance bearing the highest rate of interest, and then to each successive balance bearing the next highest rate of interest until the payment is exhausted. There is an exception to this rule for deferred interest promotion. In the last XXXX billing cycles before expiration for any deferred interest promotion, any amount paid in excess of the required minimum payment amount must be allocated to the expiring deferred interest promotion. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate your request as, XXXX We are only able to reallocate payments to and from deferred interest promotions. We will only reallocate a payment if the request is made within 60 days after the transaction date of your payment as shown on your statement. Payments can not be reallocated from an expiring deferred interest promotion. Payments can not be reallocated as it is less than or equal to the minimum payment due. Payments you requested to be reallocated has not been received
