I would definitely consider myself someone who was aggressively rushed through financial aid and loan applications when I was in school. I had no idea the difference between federal and private loans, let alone the long-term impacts and overall costs ( especially not the compounding interest ) of my loans. Attempting to complete school while struggling with a previously undiagnosed XXXX XXXX made it difficult to complete courses racking up more loans in my continued attempts. I have more than paid back what my original loan amounts were and tried numerous times to apply for XXXX discharge. Once in XXXX and again in XXXX. Both times the application was lost. I requested the application XXXX other times only for the application to never be received in the mail. When I have tried to follow up it's like my calls on the subject never happened. Throughout college, while navigating numerous XXXX XXXX XXXX ( which have continued since ), in attempts to be able to pay for medical care I was also forced into more than one deferment and forbearance program without a full understanding of what that was let alone that I had other options at the time. I have been on income repayment but have still had to sell all my personal belongings to not be late on student loan payments. My student loan is 20 % of my total income .... if that doesn't include overpayments that were taken. No one juggling a life-threatening, XXXX XXXXXXXX should have to battle a lender like this when they're fighting to survive. I appreciate your consideration of my case and hope an investigation can help bring to light another grossly mismanaged loan arrangement.
