Consumer Narrative
To Whom It May Concern, I was hired as a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, '' located at XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, FL. On XX/XX/year>, I was asked by the XXXX department to deposit a XXXX XXXX XXXX check for {$7300.00} into my JP Morgan Chase account to purchase office equipment. The reason provided was that employees would own the equipment after the probationary period, saving paperwork. After the check cleared, I was instructed to make two wire transfers : {$4800.00} and {$2500.00}. The transfers were completed by XX/XX/year>, with a {$25.00} fee per transfer. Soon after, I was asked to deposit another check, claiming it was for discounted equipment. I questioned why the funds already transferred werent sufficient but followed instructions. When the new check was placed on hold, I refused to use my own funds for purchases. Later, I was notified by my bank that my account was overdrawn by - {$5600.00} plus my initial {$1600.00}, and that the initial check had been deemed fraudulent. Despite contacting the fraud prevention department, I found my balance locked, and I might be held liable for the wire transfers, which would overdraw my account. I refuse to accept responsibility for this as the bank made funds available from the deposit of the first check. If this did not take place, none of this would have happened with the wire transfers. I can provide documentation such as my Employment Offer Letter, welcome email, and my correspondence with the HR representative. My claim with the bank was denied and the wire transfer department has notified me that the wire transfer recipients refused to send the money back. This incident has been reported to the FBI, local police ( Incident # : XXXX ), and the FTC. I would like to recover my initial balance prior to the incident in the amount of {$1600.00} as a resolution of this issue. Please let me know if you have any questions. If the bank did not make the fund available the situation with wire transfer would never had happened, regardless of whom initiated the wire transfers. I files a complaint with XXXX and the bank showed a complete lack of interest to resolve this issue blaming it on me. When the first check was deposited I called the fraud department and inquired if this check could be fraudulent and was told that if this is the case, I would not be help responsible because I have been a long time customer with the bank. I also Complained to FBI, Local Police, XXXX.
