I applied for a Best Buy Citicard. I was informed they needed more information. From there I and my husband spent over an hour trying to find out why they could not access my application status. I called the number on the credit inquiry. I was passed from number to number and was unable to get through the automated system. It just kept saying there was no record of my application. When someone at the first one would try to look it up, apparently there was an account in my name, but the security question answer did not match, despite it only being two names possible. ( It was the name of a pet that stated with the letter M ) I have only had two with that my entire life. Surprise! It was neither. I ended up having to call six times myself, and at one point was sent to their debt collection department. I repeatedly stated I do not have an account, I am unable to even find my application. Again I was sent to the same two numbers, one of which kicked me back to the second one I could not get through to a human on as again, there was no record of my application. During the last call I personally made, I asked for a supervisor at least 15 times, each time I was refused. When my husband finally called back he was able to get an answer. Supposedly my social security number did not match their records, despite this hard inquiry popping up on my credit report. He was able to get answers within less then 30 minutes, while I had been passed around and not listened to for over an hour at this point. I have never had this issue before. I requested they cancel the application completely as I refuse to deal with an unprofessional company, after this extremely poor experience.
