Consumer Narrative
In XXXX, XXXX six ( 6 ) fraudulent charges were posted to my Best Buy credit card number ending in XXXX. The charges were XX/XX/XXXX {$200.00} BestBuy.com XX/XX/XXXX {$60.00} WWW.Costco.com XX/XX/XXXX {$89.00} WWW.Costco.com XX/XX/XXXX {$89.00} WWW.Costco.com XX/XX/XXXX {$200.00} BestBuy.com XX/XX/XXXX {$89.00} WWW.Costco.com I contacted Best Buy and report the charges as fraud. I received a letter from Best Buy on XX/XX/XXXX saying that while they are investigating the disputes, they adjusted my minimum payment due, which reflected the portion of the balance that was not being disputed. Then I received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX stating that they completed their investigation and based on their review have credited my account for the unauthorized activity totaling XXXX, fees and interest, however the two ( 2 ) Bestbuy.com charges totaling XXXX XXXX ( {$400.00} ) dollars was being rebilled to my account. Their decision was based on " using the information that you provided about the dispute. With the information we had, it wasn't enough to support your claim and resolve the dispute in your favor ''. I called to dispute this resolution and was told that the case was closed and in order to re-open it, I would need to get a police report ( which was never told to me when I initially reported the fraud ). On XX/XX/XXXX and then again on XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted XXXX XXXX Police department and an officer was dispatch to my address to take a report. He advised that it was very little that could be done since I had no information to provide regarding who I thought may have committed the fraud. In good faith I reported all the fraudulent transactions, the only information I was able to provide was I did not make the charges. Best Buy absolved me to the lowest charges, however the remaining two ( 2 ) highest charges they are saying I have to pay, even though I have repeatedly indicated that I did not make these charges. Both charges were electronic store charges. I would think that the investigation would have at least provided information as to what was purchased and where it was sent, a physical home address or an email address. I am certain that if Best Buy digs deeper and exhaust all efforts in their investigation they will find that I am truthful to my word and I did not make these charges.
