On XX/XX/year>, I contacted Citibank at XXXX to close my Certificate of Deposit ( CD ). The original deposit amount was {$500.00}, and after two years, it had grown to {$540.00}. Despite my request, I have been unable to close the account. When I first called, the agent said she couldn't verify my identity and therefore couldn't assist with closing the account. Frustrated, I called again, and this time the agent assured me he had found my account, confirmed it was in the grace period, and promised to close the CD and issue a check, which I was told I would receive in 7-10 days. However, this turned out to be false. When I checked today, I found that the CD had been reinvested into a new term instead of being closed as promised
