We have a business account with Chase Bank. In XX/XX/XXXX, someone altered a {$4100.00} check from our account and cashed it. Looking at the check, it is obvious that the intended recipient was partially rubbed off and changed to another name. Once we realized what happened, we notified the bank branch at the end of XXXX. We were assigned claim number XXXX for the incident. The branch gave us an affidavit to complete, and we did so. We did not hear back about the fraud, so we returned to the branch several times ( XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX ). The branch kept saying they were still waiting for the fraud department to resolve the incident. When we checked in with the branch again in XXXX, the banker said they needed a list of all the checks issued by our company in XX/XX/XXXX. We provided the branch with the list. We never heard back again. In XX/XX/XXXX, a Chase relationship manager called the company to see how everything was going. We told him about the fraudulent check and that nothing was happening. He told us that because it has been over 12 months since the complaint was made, the case has been closed, and there is nothing Chase can do.
