Toward the end of XXXX of this year, i opened my first checking account with Chase Bank. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX i receive financial aid from my college, and i also receive financial aid refund checks from my school. When i got home from the bank after making my account i deposited two of my financial aid refund checks into my account via mobile deposit, one for {$750.00} and one for {$250.00}. The chase app said it would take a while to process the funds, and on XX/XX/XXXX i was notified that my account was suspended and would be closed soon. I visited a branch the next week and was notified that my funds were suspended due to Chase thinking my checks were suspicious and they wanted contact info for who issued the checks to me so they could verify. Over the next few weeks i had multiple calls with chase where i would give them number after number from my school hoping they could get in contact with somebody who could verify me. My account was closed in this time and chase notified me that insetad of mailing the remaining balances to me they will freeze my funds indefinitely until they could be verified. After many failed attempts i contacted my school and asked for a specific number and they told me that only the XXXX office could help because they handle all matters related to refund checks. I obtained the extension number for the supervisor at the office who would be able to access my info and verify my information but when i gave the number to chase they refused to call it because it didnt show up in their system. I spent the entire summer constantly going back and forth with chase operators because they would not call any number that didnt show up on my school website even though i continually told them the only place that was qualified to actually deal with this problem was the XXXX specifically, the supervisor which they would not call because of this tedious system of theirs. On Monday XX/XX/XXXX i went to my schools office in person to get help with what was happening and even got the supervisor to be present and assist while i called chase again. When someone answered and asked to verify as usual i gave her the phone. She was able to give all sufficient information about me and herself proving that she works at my school. Still, the operator refused to listen or accept any of it until they called her and when she tried to give her official number for the office they once again said they wont call it because of the system doesn't show her number. She told me she tried to help but chase was being un co operative and she couldnt do anything for me. I went to other offices in my school but they all told me i could only get help from the XXXX and the supervisor that chase refuses to call. Chase has been holding my money for 3 months now because my checks are apparently suspicous even though they have my name, old address and school which should make it obvious that they are in fact, my checks. To make things worse this has negatively impacted my XXXX score which is stopping me from even attemping to open a checking account elsewhere. This is my first account and an incredibly unfair punishment for a small mistake especially since this should be very easy to solve but chase is making it impossible.
