There was a settlement called the Navient XXXX XXXX XXXX in which forgiveness was given to loan borrowers of Navient because of the fact that they basically forced us into accepting forebearance and deferment over making payments so that we would accrue more interest. Here is the website describing the settlement - https : //www.navientagsettlement.com/ The website I found says... Federal loan borrowers who qualify for relief under this settlement do not need to take any action except update or create their studentaid.gov account to ensure that the U.S. Department of Education has their current address. And I promise you, my track record of constant forebearance and deferrment will show that I was a clear victim in this case. I would contact Navient each year and try to discuss income driven repayment plans because for many years I was working and did have a salary... and Navient always toldme the amounts that Icould afford to pay were not enough and it would be a better option forme to " defer for another year until I could afford higher payments because my current payments would be pointless withthe amount of interest I would be accruing ''. This went on for a decade. I would like someone to reach out to me about this because I can not find any forgiveness programs listed on the federal student aid website. I am aware that Navient was shut down and that XXXX has taken it's place. I know something can be done for me but need guidance on whichdirection to take.
