" I was scammed by https : //www.upstart.com into taking out a veteran-friendly loan to help me relocate. After taking out the loan, I struggled to make payments. They were aware that I receive VA XXXX payments and suggested I use that money to pay them. I attempted to settle the loan, but they refused, insisting that I continue making payments from my VA XXXX benefits. The loan has now been sold to XXXX XXXX XXXX, who are demanding payment from my VA XXXX benefits and threatening to sue and garnish those benefits if I don't comply. Under federal law, debt collectors can not garnish VA XXXX payments. I have tried reaching out to Velocity to negotiate, but they refuse and continue to threaten legal action. ''
