Hello CFPB. I have worked to resolve this matter on and off for the majority of XXXX and am filing a complaint as a final resort. On XX/XX/XXXX I was offered a promotional discount to apply for a Victoria 's Secret Angel Card in store at checkout. I provided my valid current ID with my accurate address that I have resided at for XXXX years and the sales associate stated that I would receive a decision by mail. I paid for my total purchase of {$19.00} with cash and left the store. I did not receive documentation or communication by mail, but I was in the middle of a divorce and the in store experience wasn't top of mind. I have attached a letter outlining the details of the events that followed, but ultimately, Comenity Bank sent 4 months worth of account documents to an outdated address ( statements attached for proof ), my account went delinquent and is report XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX day lates on my credit, I settled the matter for {$120.00} despite maintaining my claim that the charge was made in error and I was not given time to dispute the matter initially, and now my credit is ruined due to a horrendous payment history that resulted from circumstances outside of my knowledge or control. This is unacceptable. Teenagers should NOT be taking credit applications at the register like it's a loyalty program ( which is what is described ) and I believe I have been a victim of predatory lending. I had another open account with Comenity at this time ... and statements were being sent to my correct address. There is no excuse.
