Consumer Narrative

I placed a call to PNC on XX/XX/year> concerning my checking account which was negative XXXX dollars. After speaking to a representative, I asked for a supervisor due to the confusing nature of the explanation I was given. I restated my issue which is in summery, Why did I have an overdraft of XXXX ( and change ) dollars taken out of my account on XX/XX/XXXX, when there was only XXXX on the account? Then, on XX/XX/year>, another overdraft occurred in the amount of XXXX which was swiftly reversed on XX/XX/year>. I proceeded to talk to a supervisor about these amounts and inquired why XXXX of these were reversed and not the other. She proceeded ( see audio logs attached ) to inform me that XXXX transfers are pushed through automatically ( if I understood her correctly ) and the bank normally covers them. Then, I asked why would the bank push a transaction through if there wasnt funding available for in within the account. She stated that due to the type of account I had, there was an overdraft function that was enabled automatically. I then proceeded to explain that Ive asked for this function to be turned off on my account multiple times. She proceeded to asked me the exact date I asked for this and I couldnt produce XXXX due to the length in time its been since then and I didnt make note due to the assurances that this function would be turned off on my account. After much debate about the charges and asking clarifying questions, I asked her what was the difference between this transaction and another transaction made on XX/XX/year> where I was overdrafted XXXX ( with XXXX within the account ) and the next day the transaction was reversed. These XXXX transactions are very similar ( XXXX & XXXX XXXX ) if not the same ( see images attached ) while XXXX of the transactions were reversed, the other was not. I asked the supervisor, If I only had XXXX dollar in the account would I still be over-drafted since my account is positive? ) She replied in the affirmative and thats when I brought up the fact that I had a positive balance on XX/XX/XXXX and on the XXXX of XXXX, the transaction was reversed. She then started to apologize and state she misspoke but this is unacceptable in my eyes. She also couldnt explain to me what the difference between the transactions were and switched to saying If your balance is over {$5.00}, well cover the cost and overdraft the account. Which clearly doesnt make sense after I asked my clarifying question about if XXXX {$1.00} positive etc etc. I believe my Pnc bank is fraudulently allowing certain overdrafts so they can charge me overdraft fees on amounts over XXXX dollars, EVEN IF Ive asked multiple times for this function to be taken off my account ( XXXX ). When questioned on why this is allowed and what the difference between these transactions were, I was stone walled and given the run-around. Ive attached the audio recording of the call below.
