Consumer Narrative

I am writing to file a complaint against TransUnion for their failure to properly address my dispute regarding inaccurate items on my credit report. On XX/XX/year>, I mailed a dispute letter to TransUnion via XXXX certified mail ( tracking XXXX XXXX ) requesting an investigation into inaccurate items on my report. Additionally, I disputed incorrect personal information listed on my credit report. To help TransUnion verify my identity and address, I included a copy of my photo ID, social security card, and a recent bill with my current address. Despite my clear and thorough request, I received a response from TransUnion dated XX/XX/year>, stating : We recently received a request that included your information, but it didn't appear that you or a properly authorized third party sent it to us. We take the privacy and security of your data very seriously, so we won't process requests unless they come directly from you or an authorized third party. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), if the completeness or accuracy of any item of information in a consumer 's file at a credit bureau is disputed by the consumer, the bureau must conduct a reasonable reinvestigation to determine whether the disputed information is inaccurate. It appears that TransUnion has violated my consumer rights by not conducting a reasonable investigation upon receipt of my dispute, which they are required to do in accordance with the FCRA. I am including a copy of my dispute letter sent to TransUnion, XXXX certified mail proof of delivery, along with TransUnions response as evidence.
