Due to an issue with the complex 's garage door ( XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX, we contacted the leasing office several times to request repairs, but no action was taken. Later, the property manager offered us the option to move out of the complex with a waiver of any lease-breaking penalties. My wife and I accepted the offer and moved out on XX/XX/XXXX. One month later, XXXX ( the owner ) sent us move-out charges, including an amount for a period we did not spend in the apartment ( from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX ). We tried to contact the XXXX office to discuss this issue, but no one answered our calls or returned our voicemails. Last week, a debt collection agent ( Genesis ) reached out to me regarding this debt. I informed him that I was disputing the charges for the period we did not occupy the apartment. Despite providing him with my correspondence with the leasing office, he dismissed my concerns and threatened to take actions that could negatively impact my credit history.
