On XX/XX/XXXX I wrote a check ( # XXXX ) for {$11000.00} to a company I did business with. This company was XXXX of my regular vendors that Ive done business with for many years. On XX/XX/XXXX Wells Fargo bank paid the check. XXXX years later, XX/XX/XXXX ..I open my Wells Fargo app and find the exact same check ( # XXXX ) from XX/XX/XXXX has been paid AGAIN. I immediately called the bank to have them put stop payment and return this check, since it appears to be an obvious either mistake or fraud on the part of the bank. In return I was told that the check was already paid and they can no longer return it. It didnt sound convincing especially because they give you a different story when you make a deposit and they put a hold on it. Also, he said since this was a Saturday all the other departments were closed and there wasnt anything that he was able to do for me. He asked me to call back on Monday and they would take care of reversing it the check since it was obvious it was some sort of mistake on their end. He told me to give them the reference number of our conversation and theyll be able to help me resolve this issue. Since then, I have called atleast XXXX times and spent an hour and a half each time, getting bumped around from XXXX department to the next and no-one can give me an answer to why a check that was written XXXX years ago and processed was once again processed even though it was only valid for 90 days from the original date it was written. They declined my claim XXXX claiming that I authorized this check. Which obviously I did not authorize it XXXX years after it had been paid on XX/XX/XXXX. My check clearly states that its not valid after 90 days and the federal law states it is 180 days and its been almost XXXX years. ( The date on the check was the same as on the first as it was exactly the same check. There was nothing nothing altered or changed since the check was written almost XXXX years ago. It was the exact same check that was redeposited and paid again from XXXX years ago. The bank wont tell me where the money went from my account. That account ( recipient ) to whom the original check was written XXXX years ago has since closed his account and his company in XXXX. I have been to my local branch XXXX times to address the situation with the manager of the branch. She has spent an hours at a time trying to get answers, and she got nowhere with the representatives. Today she spent another hour with them again and they said they reached their final decision and are denying the claim. She is just as confused and shocked as I am. I decided to file a police report. I am going to include the front and the back of the check that was processed twice times XXXX years apart. Also, the correspondence I have with the bank and a copy of the police report.
