Consumer Narrative
I am writing to formally dispute two hard inquiries listed on my credit report which I believe to be unauthorized and in violation of federal law. Please see my detailed information below : The hard inquiries unrecognizable are : 1. XXXX XXXXXXXX Date Reported : XX/XX/year> XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX Date Reported : XX/XX/year> I do not recognize these hard pulls and they were not authorized by me. Therefore, they violate the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), specifically 15 U.S.C. 1681b, which governs permissible purposes for obtaining consumer reports. Additionally, please note the following sections of the FCRA which further support my dispute : 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ) : Whenever a consumer reporting agency prepares a consumer report it shall follow reasonable procedures to assure maximum possible accuracy of the information concerning the individual about whom the report relates. 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) : If the completeness or accuracy of any item of information contained in a consumers file at a consumer reporting agency is disputed by the consumer and the consumer notifies the agency directly, or indirectly through a reseller, of such dispute, the agency shall, free of charge, conduct a reasonable reinvestigation to determine whether the disputed information is inaccurate and record the current status of the disputed information, or delete the item from the file in accordance with paragraph ( 5 ), before the end of the 30-day period beginning on the date on which the agency receives the notice of the dispute from the consumer or reseller. 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ( 5 ) ( A ) : If, after any reinvestigation of any information disputed by a consumer, an item of the information is found to be inaccurate or incomplete or can not be verified, the consumer reporting agency shall promptly delete that item of information from the file of the consumer. As a consumer, my rights under the FCRA are clear, and unauthorized inquiries can result in inaccurate reporting and potential q to my credit score. Given these inquiries were not made with my consent or for a permissible purpose, they must be removed from my credit report immediately. Please investigate this matter promptly and correct the inaccuracies by removing these unauthorized inquiries. I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and expect a resolution within the 30-day investigation period as required by the FCRA.
