Bank is stating we came in to close the account on XX/XX/XXXX, when we have signed documentation from XX/XX/XXXX to prove we actually closed the account that day. We were told we would receive a check by mail in 12-14 business days. When we did not receive the check and called the bank we were told there was a mix up with the addresses and we should be receiving the check soon. When we still did not receive the check, I called corporate customer service and was told a completely different story. That the bank had still needed documentation that my mother was deceased which I had with me in case it was needed back on XX/XX/XXXX. This highly suspicious to me and is quite alarming that at one institution I can close an account and receive the money belonging to the estate the same day and another bank will not release the funds that do not belong to them, for a month. The bank is called Associated Bank.
