I was given bad checks by a potential employer ( which turned out to be a scam ). I've never had a check bounce before so I was unaware of the possible consequences of attempting to deposit bad checks. After the first check that I deposited, I was informed by the bank that the check was returned and the money deposited failed to clear. I was given another check to deposit. I informed several representatives at the bank that I had received another check and that I was worried that it too, would bounce. I asked a representative if I should deposit the second check and I even told him that I thought that it might be fake and he said, " Yeah, go ahead. '' None of the employees that I spoke to regarding the second check warned me that a second bounced check would result in the closure of both of my accounts ( checking and savings ).
