Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/year>, an individual tried to make a payment through my bank account in the amount of {$1400.00}. I received a text message from my bank stating that my account was overdrawn over {$300.00} because this individual tried to make a payment from Capital One. I contacted Capital One and spoked to a representative from the fraud department and stated that I did not make this payment I had already made a payment on this account in the amount of {$110.00}, so why would I make a payment of {$1400.00}, when I can not afford that. My payments are very consistent each month. I was told by the representative to call my bank, so I did. I called my bank and the bank representative stated that because they did not pay for the transaction for me not to worry it would be reversed by the next business day. The amount of {$1400.00} was reversed as the bank representative stated on XX/XX/XXXX. I thought this situation was over with. After my money was returned back to my account, I received an inquiry from my credit report that this individual also applied for a Capital One Platinum Credit Card. I called Capital One and stated that I did not apply for this credit card. Why would I because I already have a Capital One Platinum card. After going back and forth with the representative, he cancelled the application and stated he would take the inquiry off of my credit report. On XX/XX/XXXX, after this individual did not get approved for the credit card. He attempted to try to make another payment and this time he did it from his XXXX in the amount of {$1400.00}. I was told this by the Capital One representative. This purchased changed all of my information to his information. He listed himself as an authorized user and changed my address to XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, CA XXXX, and Capital One sent this individual my Capital One credit card. The representative act as if she was in shocked that this is happening. This individual name is XXXX XXXX. I learned his from some of the that was made on the card and at the time on the pending transaction it had his name, and it was confirmed by Capital One. I did not make these charges or payment of {$1400.00} on my account. This money was unauthorized taken from my checking account. I have never lived at this address, and I do not know this person. I am a victim of identity theft. I have a fraud alert on my credit report, so I do not understand how this keeps happening and no one is prosecuted for this crime.
