Our mortgage company 's loss/draft department are solely to blame for our issue. Not the insurance company or the VA. We had a catastrophic loss of our home and we have cooperated with everything they have asked, but they do not give us the funds we need and have paid out of pocket and taken from our retirement savings, at a heavy tax levied against us, and our personal savings. We had difficulty getting a contractor to over see the work. Our last contractor did nothing for 8 months. Nothing. So we became our own general contractor and got our permits and hired the sub contractors. I am attaching some of the emails we have written. So far we have asked for reimbursement from two contractors for the final completion of the exterior of the house and the excavation company that worked to remove the old burned house and dig/fill utility trenches, and prepare the ground for radon barrier and concrete pour. They did reimburse at least once for our underground plumbing work and the builder completing the outer shell of the house. We have been waiting for 4 weeks for them to pay the final bill to that company.
