The credit bureaus XXXX, TransUnion, and XXXX are reporting bankruptcies on my client 's credit report, attributing the information to the US Bankruptcy Court. I have attached a letter from the US Bankruptcy Court verifying that they do not furnish information to credit bureaus or any credit monitoring service, nor do they verify or validate any information concerning bankruptcies. TransUnion is falsely reporting this information on my client 's credit report and has not yet removed it. The United States Bankruptcy Court does not have authority over credit reporting agencies and does not report to any of them. Bankruptcy petitions and case dockets are considered public records. The Fair Credit Reporting Act, specifically Section 605, governs credit reporting agencies. According to this law, credit reporting agencies are prohibited from reporting bankruptcy cases on an individual 's credit report. 15 U.S Code 1681 a ( 4 ) Consumer Right to privacy.
