Received a phone call from a woman claiming to be with Capital One stating that they were confirming I was opening a new account with them. I told them I have not submitted an application for a new credit card. She transferred me to a man and he was with Capital One and that there was fraudulent charges on one of my credit cards with them. He claimed he was putting a freeze on my credit card accounts and could do the same for any additional cards. I had given them all my personal information, including date of birth social security number, and banking information. I was on the phone with them for over XXXX hours and they continued to tell me they were working on clearing up all these fraudulent charges with the companies trying to make the charges ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ). He was very polite and answered my questions professionally. They even texted me passcodes to verify account information. The number they called from was XXXX.
