In XX/XX/XXXX I was informed by one of the credit agencies that PHH Mortgage, who has been servicing my loan for over 5 years, reported me as being 30 days late in XXXX and XXXX of this year ( XXXX ). I have receipts showing on-time payments for those months, as well as the previous months and the following months of XXXX and XXXX. In addition, PHH is charging me {$1400.00} in late charges when there have been no late payments. I have reached out to PHH several times to find out what is going on and nobody seems to know why my payments are being reported late. The only thing that they state is that their system shows them that the XXXX payment was applied to XXXX, the XXXX payment was applied to XXXX and so on, but they can't tell me why. I get random phone calls from people in other countries, mainly XXXX, claiming to represent PHH asking me for different amounts of payments. They have asked me to pay $ XXXX, then they call again a week later and ask for {$3100.00} etc. Every time they call, they ask for different amounts. When I confront them about this, they simply say that they are calling on behalf of PHH Mortgage Servicing. I am not about to make payments of thousands of dollars over the phone to a random person calling me from another country. Fraudulent calls are rampant, and I get at least one per day. When I call PHH in the US to inquire, they tell me that they have no idea why someone would be calling me from XXXX to collect payments on behalf of PHH Mortgage Servicing, and that as far as they know, there are no such payments due. I cant believe this is happening, and nobody at PHH has an answer. I have not received any written or electronic communication from PHH Mortgage Servicing requesting any funds nor that my payments are late or not received. In XX/XX/XXXX I received an escrow statement from PHH Mortgage stating that there was an escrow shortage. This letter went on to say that the shortage would be divided into the coming months and that my monthly payment would go up proportionally to cover the shortage. The new higher mortgage payments started in XX/XX/XXXX. Please note that the escrow statement states the payments would start in XX/XX/XXXX, but the new payment amount did not show up on the payment portal until the payment date of XX/XX/XXXX. So, the payment requested for XX/XX/XXXX was the old payment prior to the escrow adjustment, and that was what was paid, again, on time. Since that notification, my monthly payments have increased over 20 %. As per the letter, the increase is supposed to take care of the shortage. This escrow letter further states that, quote : " PHH Mortgage Services, can not, and does not require payment of this amount and, instead, PHH has spread any shortage across the monthly escrow payments. '' All payments, including the increases that were implemented, have been paid on time, every time. In conclusion, there are no late payments ( see attached receipts/ confirmations ). The escrow shortage ( due to property tax increase ) is being applied to the monthly payments. These have increased accordingly. Yet PHH is reporting late payments and charging late fees. As a result of this situation, my credit has been ruined. My credit score has dropped into the low XXXX from XXXX where it was prior to these reports. This is affecting my ability to make a living since I depend on my credit for my business. Not to mention that even my credit cards are being canceled by the issuers. I respectfully request The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to intercede on my behalf since I am not getting any resolution to this matter from PHH Mortgage Servicing. The more time goes by the worst things keep getting. Time is of the essence. Thank you in advance.
