CMRE Financial Services was sent an account by mistake after the debt was paid in full. I paid XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/year>, after receiving a 30 day notice dated XX/XX/XXXX. The account was then wrongfully sent to CRME for collection AFTER payment was received and BEFORE 30 days. CRME started collection calls in early XXXX, before i was aware the account was sent to collections, so I assumed the calls were a scam. I received notice from CMRE on Monday, XX/XX/XXXX. I called the following day, Tuesday, XX/XX/XXXX and requested information on how to dispute the debt. I was given an email address and told to send proof of payment such as a bank statement showing the payment. I did this on Tuesday, XX/XX/XXXX. No one ever responded to the email, and I received multiple phone calls per week after sending proof of payment. I sent a follow up email on Sunday, XX/XX/XXXX asking the calls to stop, again, no response, but more phone calls. On Thursday, XX/XX/XXXX, I answered the call from CRME to find out why they were continuing trying to collect, and was told that my proof of payment was not sufficient because my bank statement I had attached, did not have XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I sent a follow up email with further proof of payment- multiple bank statements with the same office listed on the statements as well as statements from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX the payments. Again, no response to my email, but the calls continued. I called XXXX XXXX XXXX to ask what could be done to get the collection calls to stop. They had no reason as to why the account was sent to collections in the first place, but they would provide me with a paid in full receipt to provide to CRME. I waited for the receipt to arrive in the mail. It finally arrived to me on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I sent the paid in full receipt to CRME. Again, no response from them. Calls still continued. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received notice that my dispute was denied, and they would continue to attempt to collect. I am at my wits end here, and don't know what else I can do to fix this. I will attach all correspondence.
