On or around the XXXX XXXX XXXX I tried to open a checking account for XXXX XXXX at TD Bank in XXXX, Maine for a business. It's called XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I provided all information required and a check from the State of Maine for around {$5300.00} more or less. After that. Nothing. The bank manager said that the social security number I provided was " wrong '' and that I would not be able to access the money inside the newly created account. The check cleared however and almost month later, yesterday the XXXX XXXX XXXX, a statement was received that the funds were available at the bank. When I went there, they again told me that I was not being allowed access to the funds. At this point I threw up my hands and told her to close out the account and give me a check for the money they have from the State of Maine. She then denied having them and when I told her about the statement she said it must be wrong. How do I get my money back and how do I " un-cancel '' my Social Security number? Am I being de-banked ''? Is debanking lawful? How can I prevent this from occurring in the future?
