Consumer Narrative

Discover Card has refused to remove a debt from a bankruptcy from my credit report. First, we are talking about two entirely separate Discover Card accounts. One Discover card account was a part of a bankruptcy in XXXX, PA bankruptcy court. The bankruptcy that included this Discover Card account went final in XX/XX/2013. Several years after that account was gone. I, XXXX XXXX, took out another Discover Card. Discover filled the card, never notified me that they now felt I had reinstated the debt from the bankruptcy of $ XXXX and after sending me the New Discover card, with an entirely different card number, started to dun me for the debt from the bankruptcy. I paid off the balance of the Discover Card they had issued me, which did not show any balance other than the charges I had made on that new card, and began what has become a fight against Discovers bureaucracy to remove the $ XXXX debt that had been in my bankruptcy filing. Again, this seems straightforward. I had a Discover Card account that had a $ XXXX balance, that was wiped away in XX/XX/2013 bankruptcy filing going final. Several years later, I applied for another Discover card and received one with a credit line of {$1000.00}. After using it and paying on it, Discover said I had accepted the balance of the amount that had been part of my bankruptcy. Over {$5000.00}. I could not convince Discover that this was wrong on their part. I NEVER saw received any paper or phone call verbally saying I would pay them the dollar amount from the bankruptcy. I then paid off in full the Discover credit card they had just issued me, with a completely different account number than the old Discover card account number, that had been a part of my final bankruptcy. Discover seems to be taking some kind of glee out of this whole process. As if they know as long as they say I owe the money from the PRIOR Discover card account that was declared in my XXXX Bankruptcy filing, even though they NEVER TOLD ME EITHER VERBALLY OR IN WRITING that I was accepting the debt from several years ago that had been wiped clean by my XXXX bankruptcy. Discover card I believe is in the wrong. My lawyer from the bankruptcy even sent them all documents again, but Discover wrote off the $ XXXX and sold the debt on the open market. I believe that what Discover did was wrong and against the law. And I believe that Discover must fully remove all debt they say I owe from my credit reports and further that what Discover has done to me, for almost ten years now since that second Discover card I got, that had a credit line of {$1000.00} which I completely paid off and closed and has caused me some very bad nights over the years with the debt collectors continually hate adding me, breaks a rule in law in which I was never given informed consent that opening a new Discover card account, would reactivate the debt, a totally different debt with a different account number, and allow Discover to harass me as they, and the numbers of debt collectors the Discover debt was sold to after Discover wrote it off.
