either the company, as well as any debts belonging to original proprietor, has been bought by another debt company slightly different in name, or they simply don't assist in helping see all your options from a legal standpoint. I was informed by Jefferson Capital that if I had this dropped off from my credit report that it would dramatically decrease my credit score as its taking age from my credit report. I was misled in the beginning, lead to believe my original debt with XXXX was settled as I made a payment towards an outstanding debt that was eventually going to get settled by myself, until all of a sudden collections had it, even though I was specifically informed that that would not be the case. I called jefferson capital multiple times over the past year and all they seem to promote is a supposed XXXX dollar fee to run credit/consumer report and then provide options. this last time I did pay the dollar and was basically informed that if I didn't pay XXXX XXXX dollars per month to a credit building program then I had no other options. paying a monthly fee simply to have my credit report monitored/corrected just didn't seem viable seeing as I am the one who's been assigned this task, by myself. As well, I was told on the phone that there were many errors and I would easily be able to dispute it. the catch was that it would've had to have been through their service for the monthly fee.
