Consumer Narrative
I previously had a {$25000.00} credit limit for a cash rewards credit card with Navy Federal Credit Union. I unfortunately fell on hard times and navy federal ended up closing the card and charging it off. I made a lump sum payment of {$500.00} and set up a payment plan in XXXX XXXX for $ XXXX to satisfy the charged off debt. I'm cleaning my credit up so in the midst of looking at my credit report from XXXX, XXXX and XXXX I noticed that navy federal reported the same exact account TWICE on my XXXX and XXXX report. One shows a balance of {$24000.00} last reported on XX/XX/XXXX and the other shows a balance of {$24000.00} last reported on XX/XX/XXXX. Both of these are technically inaccurate as I paid them a {$500.00} payment in XXXX XXXX, but the balance reported in XXXX XXXX is {$24000.00} instead of the accurate balance which is {$24000.00}. I did not have XXXX different accounts with the same credit limit. I only had XXXX cash rewards account with them so it should not appear on my XXXX and XXXX report twice. That is inaccurate information and it's having an adverse effect on my credit report by showing I owe more debt than I actually do. I've tried calling their collections department to see if they can fix it, I've messaged Navy Federal Credit Union via their internal messaging system as well as disputing it through XXXX with no results. I'm not able to dispute it through XXXX yet or else I would. I'm asking that Navy Federal Credit Union please remove the duplicate reported accounts on my credit report and fix the actual reporting inaccuracy.
