Consumer Narrative

I leased my new XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX through XXXX XXXX after turning in my other XXXX when the lease was up with XXXX XXXX. My new lease started with XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. I now had 2 different account # 's with XXXX XXXX one from my old XXXX and one for the new XXXX. When turning in my old XXXX I didn't realize I still had a {$78.00} balance on that account, therefore, online my account was showing the new account # for my new XXXX and the old account # for the old XXXX I just turned in. Both accounts were listed when I went online to make my first payment for my new XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. Not paying attention, and this was the XXXX payment with the new account, I accidently selected the old account # with the {$78.00} balance to apply my new payment of {$520.00}. XXXX had reached out to me and I wasn't sure why since I knew I had made my payment and confirmed that the payment was made by looking at my bank statement, and the payment came out on XX/XX/XXXX. I just thought it was a clerical error on XXXX part and that they would figure out the mistake and correctly apply the payment and if not we would just do a true up at the end. I had my bank statement showing the payment was made. I have never been late on a payment and I have never missed a payment with all my years with XXXX XXXX. This is now affecting my credit and I have reached out to XXXX repeatedly starting around XX/XX/XXXX to explain what happened and ask to have the charge off removed. XXXX is stating that the charge off is legitimate. I made an honest mistake in selecting the incorrect account to apply payment, and XXXX even sent me a refund check for the difference of {$440.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. The refund was the difference of my car payment for the new account {$520.00} less the {$78.00} that was still on the old account. I spoke to XXXX again on XX/XX/XXXX asking what the check was for and the person I spoke to said it was a refund for the difference on my old account and to pay back the {$440.00} as good faith and I did that on XX/XX/XXXX. I'm asking for understanding and forgiveness for making an honest mistake. My payment history and credit history show that I always pay my bills and pay them on time. This was just a careless honest mistake of paying the wrong account #, but the payment was made just to the wrong account.
