Consumer Narrative

ProCollect was hired by XXXX XXXX XXXX in Florida to collect debt that I did not know I owed ( {$2900.00} ). The security deposit company XXXX has XXXX in, paid {$1000.00} ( XX/XX/XXXX ) of the total and has stated that now I owe them ( XXXX ) {$1000.00} and that I owe the difference to the rental property. I reviewed my emails with the leasing office and noticed that I did NOT sign a lease with them, meaning my lease is void. A clerical error by XXXX XXXX. Before leaving, I spoke with XXXX XXXX and she said she will forgive my lease and then email me a copy of how much I owe for moving out prior to the lease ending ( even though the end date of the lease was incorrect as well ). I never received the balance and next thing I know, ProCollect calls me to pay. When I told them that I didn't know I had a balance, the person told me it doesn't matter and that I will need to pay. She then proceeded to talk over me and then end the call once I protested back saying how can I be charge for something that I had no knowledge about. Prior to moving, I kept bringing the issue of my lease end date being incorrect and I was ignored by the managers at XXXX XXXX, even then I walked into the office to speak with them. XXXX kept confusing my unit for another unit, so I believe she might have wrote the wrong end date because of that confusion. It wasn't until a month before I left ( XX/XX/XXXX ) I realized that I didn't have a signed lease. The property managers couldn't produce a signed lease while I was there. This is the email I sent on XX/XX/XXXX to the then property manager XXXX XXXX -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- - Hi XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXt, Thank you for providing my family housing. This is a formal XXXX day notice that we will be moved out of unit XXXX by XX/XX/XXXX. My lease is slated to end on XX/XX/XXXX per the email at the end of this thread. My wife and I will not be renewing our lease. Please let us know of any stipulations that will need to be addressed or fees to pay for breaking our lease XXXX days earlier than the end date. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- - I was then informed that I needed to provide a XXXX day notice. I spoke with XXXX in person and after she collected herself ( she was in disbelieve that we did not have a signed lease ) she said she would wave the XXXX day requirement. IF there was any fees that I owed, they would notify me.I was never notified by email, verbally, nor by physical mail. I was sent to collections without even being contacted that I owed a specific amount. Now after I moved out, they magically have a signed lease that fits their narrative. I believe the property manager found my original signed lease for a different unit and doctored it onto the fake lease. I have emails to back up the lack of communication and evidence of what documentation I had available.
