In XX/XX/XXXX, I paid for a credit check and completed an application to rent a unit at an apartment complex XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email from a leasing agent, XXXX XXXX, telling me that I would need to come in by Monday to pay a deposit and sign the lease in order to secure an apartment. I spoke to XXXX the following week after receiving another call from her and explained to her that their apartment complex would not be a good fit for me. I never heard from them again through any method. A week ago I took out a personal loan and an XXXX loan in which my interest rate was extremely high. I didnt understand why being that Ive had no late payments or collections in over 18 years. Today I was looking over my credit report and found that XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has placed a collection on my credit report for {$150.00} through a company called Pro Collect that was opened XX/XX/XXXX. They have never spoken to or mailed me any correspondence about having incurred this debt. Especially since I signed no lease, there is no reason to lead me to be aware of existing debt that was not prepaid ( such as the credit check which I paid during the application process ). They did not notify me of any existing charges that they believe I owed to them. Had I known about it, I would have had the opportunity to question why I was being charged without a signed rental agreement and also make the payment if valid. Instead, my credit has been stained and resulted in a high interest loan. Again, there were 2 loans that have been taken out since this collection was placed on my credit both accounts in XXXX of XXXX. The rate is more than 10 % higher for one account and 15 % higher for the other, than my other loans of the same type. I should not have to be financially responsible for errors on debt records, notification, or reporting of either company.
