In XX/XX/2023, Nelnet reported my loans to credit reporting agencies, at the time these balances were correct and accurately reflected on my report ( XXXX in loans ). My student loans were transferred from Nelnet to XXXX in XX/XX/2023. During this time, the balances of the student loans were effectively reported twice, once by XXXX and once by Nelnet ( so showing double the balance due ) on my credit reports. I didn't worry about this too much because I figured the Nelnet balances would drop off eventually, since they were no longer the servicer for my student loans ( loans transferred ). Fast forward to XXXX months later, and the balances from Nelnet are still showing on my credit report. My student loans have since been paid in full to XXXX. XXXX has reported the balances as XXXX, but because Nelnet has not updated the report, my reports are showing that I still have XXXX in student loan debt when I actually do not. I reported this to Nelnet in XX/XX/2023, and they sent me a letter saying they completed an investigation and that the report was correct. I also reported this to credit reporting agencies in XX/XX/2023, and they also contacted Nelnet who said the account was correct. I do not know who to turn to get my credit updated accurately. If you search this problem on the internet you'll find that there are many many other people in this exact same predicament. This should not be this hard, and there should not be so much pushback from student loan servicers. My loans have been transferred from servicer to service XXXX times before and I have never had this issue with other servicers, instead of showing a balance the last status is transferred ( so the balance isn't counted twice ).
