On XX/XX/XXXX I was contacted by a loan officer from Westlake Direct who informed me that Westlake had recently bought out XXXX, the company I pay a subscription fee of XXXX XXXX monthly for my vehicle. I was informed that I had the option now of buying out my car and to put my XXXX XXXX monthly payments towards a loan through Westlake that would result in me owning my car at the end of the loan agreement. I asked the loan officer directly and clearly what was needed on my part. She said that I already prequalified and that she already started drawing up the loan terms. I expressed that I would only want to do this if the loan terms were less than what I was already paying for the subscription through XXXX. She told me that I needed to open up my credit file on XXXX because I had it locked so that she could do a soft pull on my credit which would not reflect on credit report. I agreed to a soft pull. A few days later I received a call where the same loan officer stated that although I have proven that I have been paying {$600.00} dollars a month without a single missed payment she was unable to get me a loan through Westlake. A day or two later I received a notification from XXXX saying that a new inquriy was listed on my report and it was from NOWCOM/Westlake. When I called the representative back from Westlake she stated that it was a softpull initially but her supervisor had to do a hard pull after we got off the phone. When i expressed my anger with not only getting a loan but also now having a inquiry on my credit file which will prevent me from building my credit and in the future qualifying for a loan or credit card, she apologized but stated there was nothing she can do. After looking deeper into the inquires section on my report I noticed that when I was car shopping in XX/XX/XXXX I applied for a loan through XXXX, where I was able to see that during that time XXXX allowed several auto loan companies to run my credit. I was told that XXXX was running my credit not the 15 other auto lenders. I felt completely bamboozled so reached out to XXXX to have these removed. They informed me that I had to go through CFPB to have them removed from my report by filing this report.
