I received an email from a company called Chime around XX/XX/XXXX that I opened an account and a debit card would arrive to my house soon. I also received an email from them about a line of credit. I never knew this company even existed. I never opened an account with them. I know my data is online from several data breaches and I have now taken steps to protect myself. Either someone tried to steal my identity or Chime is opening false accounts to inflate their numbers. It is really suspicious to me because the account was opened after I froze my credit. Really strange. Chime had my social, phone number and address. A debit card did arrive in the mail to my home. I tried contacting Chime via phone call & could not get to a person without them dropping my calls after a few minutes. After the first couple times it happened, I knew it was no accident and it's their intentional practice to make contacting them for assistance difficult. I finally found their email online & was able to communicate with them in writing to close my account. The auto message I received before connecting to a person said their email communication is ceasing after early XX/XX/XXXX. That's so wrong of them with how their customer service calls worked in my experience. I'm glad I was able to close my account with them ( hoping they aren't lying ) but something shady is going on with either Chime and/or my personal information. Like I said earlier, I have frozen my credit but I also bought a credit/data monitoring service & made a pin with the IRS. Other than that I don't know what else to do...
