Four hours ago I was notified that I was involved in the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX breach. I called XXXX XXXX and XXXX and placed security freezes and fraud alerts on my account. When I called Equifax their automated system was abysmal and didnt recognize any zeros. That and itself is a huge failing. When I finally spoke to a person they hung up on me. When I called back, the rep, in a loud call center wanted me to provide a copy of my drivers license. I thought that was a bit much, but he said he needed to verify me. I did not understand how did all of the other info not verify who I was!? Next he wanted to know loans I have paid in the past, and credit card companies and monthly payments. I provided that, and then was told XXXX would not work. When I asked why, he could not tell me and told me I could not be verified! I demanded to speak to the supervisor- XXXX XXXX was the supervisor. He refused to verify me and would only advise me to go online and sign into their website. The whole reason why I called the companies is because I think my computer is already compromised! I am so disgusted with this company and can not believe this is how they are treating consumers! My experience with the other two agencies were so completely different. Why!? I just gave all this info to a call center guy and did not get my account frozen. He could very easily steal my identity and I have no way of correcting it with equivalent because they refuse to validate who I am! By the way, I am XXXX and this XXXX has caused XXXX XXXX that I might need to call XXXX for. Please look into why equivalent is doing this to American consumer trying to protect themselves!
