I had an interest free payment plan for an air conditioner unit, through Goodleap. I setup an autopayment through their payment portal for {$840.00} in XX/XX/2022. This recurring amount would fully cover the balance WITHIN the interest free period. I called the company on XXXX to verify that no additional charges or hidden fees would be applicable to trigger the collateralized interest penalty. I was assured that it would not. Today, XXXX, I received a bill in the mail from Goodleap for the collateralized interest penalty. After speaking with a representative from the company, I am told that on the last month XXXX I logged on to the portal and cancelled the the final payment of {$840.00}. Furthermore, I am told that 3 days later, XXXX, I authorized a payment for {$820.00}. I did neither of these transaction within their payment portal. This is a {$20.00} difference that has generated an interest bearing ( 11.49 % ) debt totaling {$1200.00}. This morning after receiving the bill, I reached out to the company and explained that I did not make the cancellation or the payment for {$20.00} less than the original amount I had setup. ( Why would I reduce the payment by {$20.00} to incur the collateralized interest payment of XXXX? ) There is, and was more than enough available funds in the account to cover the full payment. The customer service representative said that there was nothing they could do about it. This is an offshore call center and they refused to put me through to an American based call center for the company. I additionally researched the company and found that the is XXXX XXXX XXXX. I logged on to XXXX and sent him a message outlining, basically, what I have explained in this statement. I also explained to him I am a XXXX veteran and that I did not make the transactions. I respectfully asked that he help me rectify this situation. I need help with this. My intuition is that this is corporate fraud. a similar thing happened in XXXX with XXXX XXXX for an interest free loan to put windows in my house. I did not have the money for legal services and ultimately paid them XXXX XXXX of dollars to close the account. I'm hoping your organization can help me rectify this situation.
