I've had a credit card with Ally/XXXX for the past several years. I've used it without any problems. I never carried a balance on the card and, to my knowledge, I never made any late payments. I earned 2.5 % cash back on the card. I initially opened the account with XXXX and the institution was later bought out by Ally. My account was closed in XXXX, XXXX, by Ally, without any warning or explanation. My account was not past due and I did not owe anything on the account. According to the " Cardmember Agreement, '' Ally has the right to close my account without any warning or explanation. I, however, had a statement credit of {$150.00} ( earned through the 2.5 % cash back rewards program ). Upon account closure, I was not re-imbursed for the statement credit on my account. I was told by the first representative, and the second representative that I spoke to that any credit earned through the cash back rewards program is forfeited upon account closure. I may be mistaken, but I don't see anywhere in the " Cardmember Agreement '' ( that Ally sent to me after account closure and after I spoke to the representatives ) that statement credits earned through the cashback rewards program would be forfeited upon account closure. Conversely, the " Cardmember Agreement '' states that I would continue to owe any debts that I had on the account after account closure. There is a " Benefits '' section that mentions the right to change or remove any benefits at any time, but they are not defined in the " Cardmember Agreement. '' The " Cardmember Agreement '' also states they are defined elsewhere, but not exactly where. I also don't see how that would apply to credit already earned.
