Consumer Narrative

I went in to XXXX XXXX and XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX, XXXX on XX/XX/2024 to see about purchasing a XXXX XXXX. After an application was ran, I was allotted an amount of {$3200.00} by American First Finance for the purchase. The XXXX XXXX I decided on total purchase amount came out to {$2400.00} ( if paid within XXXX days ). Something I'm totally capable of, so was like yes, let 's do it! I waited XXXX business days for an official contract that was said to have been sent via XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, which still had not shown up, even though money had already started being withdrawn from my account. This immediately caught my attention because what was being withdrawn was not what the original agreement/contract was set for. So I called American First Finance ( XXXX ) on XX/XX/2024 and spoke with a " XXXX XXXX '' ( No further information was provided, such as an employee identification number or a full last name. But the call was " supposedly '' taken on a recorded line ). The young lady read off a completely different contract from the original contract with the owed amount balance now being over {$10000.00}. The most she was able to do was cancel the automatic withdrawals from my account. After ending the call with her I placed another call to XXXX XXXX and XXXX ( XXXX ) to speak with the guy I originally set up a contract with ( XXXX ). Once he pulled up my account information he read off a completely different contract from what XXXX XXXX had just read off, which was also different from the original contract which was drawn up on XX/XX/2024. So now there are XXXX different contracts with XXXX different total amounts for XXXX product purchase. XXXX would not be able to be seated with me to discuss these XXXX different contracts until the following Saturday, which would have been XX/XX/2024. On XX/XX/2024 I received an " updated '' contract via email as a result from the call with XXXX XXXX, which took place on XX/XX/2024. This contract was completely different from the XXXX that were already in motion for this XXXX product purchase. So now there are XXXX different contracts, and XXXX different amounts owed, on XXXX product purchase. At this point I definitely feel like I am in the works of some sort of scam or an illegitimate business deal. I call American First Finance again. This time around I'm speaking with a XXXX ( who also does not provide a last name or an employee identification number, but still " supposedly '' on a recorded line ). When I start to ask questions regarding how my account has gone from XXXX contract to XXXX contracts, with the total amount bouncing from {$2400.00} to over {$10000.00}, XXXX is lost for words. He has someone else, a male voice, in his background, telling him exactly what to say to me, but would not provide the persons name or an employee identification number. This draws deeper concern regarding fraudulent activity. After going back and forth simply trying to get the name of the guy in the background calling the shots, I'm transferred to someone else named XXXX, who says he's the " XXXX '' ( still no last names or employee identification numbers are provided ). I'm not sure if he " updated '' XXXX of the XXXX contracts in motion or made a completely different contract all together. All I have to work with is what the young man is saying over the phone ( which he says the total amount owed has been adjusted and a new payoff date has been set ) as to nothing is sent the day of agreement, but several days later, XXXX days later at minimum. The " new '' payoff balance is {$2400.00} ( which is still more than the original contract amount ) and the new cash payoff date is XX/XX/2024. I'm assuming this is now the latest " updated '' contract information ( from XXXX back to XXXX ), as of XX/XX/2024. I received XXXX additional emails from a customer service account tied in with American First Finance, XXXX the day of the call which was XX/XX/2024 and XXXX on the following day from a XXXX XXXX XXXX tied in with American First Finance, on XX/XX/2024, which stated that my account had been accredited. Though no amount was given nor do I know which contract the email is referring to. Moving on, it's now Monday XX/XX/2024, giving the benefit of a doubt, thinking everything has been worked out and it's just XXXX legitimate, active, working contract now ( still not having received an email of an " updated '' contract, nor the original which was said to have been mailed out XX/XX/2024 ), I attempt to log into my account and make a payment of {$700.00}. I immediately noticed the total amount owed is higher than the original amount agreed upon still, so I call American First Finance again. This time I get a XXXX ( who also does not provide a last name or an employee identification number ). I make her aware of the situation and she reads notes on my account but she also reads off what I'm assuming is a completely different contract once again because now the price has gone from {$2400.00} something odd dollars to {$2600.00} something odd dollars. So it's back to the drawing board, because things are just not on XXXX accord and things are not adding up. At this point there's been a {$53.00} withdrawal from my account as well as an additional {$190.00} withdrawal. During this call, XXXX informs me that the {$53.00} withdrawal was a processing fee which is not a part of the total amount balance owed toward the total purchase amounts. She also informs me the amount credited to my account ( from my last call on XX/XX/2024 ) was for {$180.00}. This would bring my current total amount owed from the original contract amount of {$2400.00} to a total of {$2100.00} ( still under the XXXX day cash payout amount from the original contract/agreement total purchase amount made on XX/XX/2024 ). I made it clear the I was calling in to make a {$700.00} payment but was feeling uneasy about doing so, being that there were so many different numbers being tossed around. As I am trying to get some clarification regarding why my current balance is not reflecting any of the changes or withdrawals that have already been made, yet the balance is constantly going up, XXXX is not able to provide me with any concrete or solid answers. I asked to be transferred back to the " XXXX '' XXXX that I spoke with on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX says she has no idea who that is. At this point, I'm just completely over it and not willing to go forward with this seemingly fraudulent, bad business deal at all. This company seems to have every intention on charging me over {$10000.00} for a {$2500.00} purchase, regardless of the original contract/agreement. She informs me that she is putting in a request for me to be contacted regarding returning the product altogether, and canceling all the contracts, which would take yet another XXXX to XXXX business days. Following the steps I needed to follow in order to legitimately report this business for fraud was what I immediately got started doing. And here we are.
