Upon requesting a credit line increase with one of my existing accounts, I became aware that there were a substantial number of collections and poor credit accounts that were not mine on my TransUnion credit report. These accounts only appeared on my TransUnion account and not the other 2 credit bureaus, thus hinting at an error with TransUnion. After filing an initial dispute it became apparent that someone else 's name appeared in numerous places on my credit file. It appeared that my data was mixed with other person 's. After a maintenance request with TransUnion most of the accounts that were not mine were removed from my file except for 1. I refiled the dispute but the investigation came back as verified as accurate and the account which is not mine remains on my credit file. TransUnion clearly did a poor job of verifying this account was mine and I had to call the lender directly to try to resolve it with them. TransUnion clearly has a very poor computerized credit reporting system that should be investigated. In addition, I had requested a freeze and fraud alert to be placed on my TransUnion credit report but came to learn later that they were never put in place. Also, the TransUnion website frequently malfunctions or prevents actions from being completed.
