I had the credit card for some time, but I had not used it recently. I am getting ready to travel out of the country and was counting on it to track my expenses for and while on that trip. Logged on to my online banking only to see the card was gone. In contacting PNC - first, it took a lot of transfers to get me to a person who could help me. Most were in off shore call centers. When I finally reached someone, I was told it had been closed due to lack of usage. I received no notification or letter from PNC stating it would be done. The problem is a bank looks at your credit history and removing an {$8000.00} credit card limit can be harmful to your utilization driving your score potentially down. Additionally, have a card notated as closed by creditor, has a very negative connotation and can alter whether another creditor chooses to provide credit. This seems like a conflict of interest as well as unfair to the consumer. Luckily, I had closed on my home purchase in the fall or this could have affected my ability to close my loan.
