Consumer Narrative

In early XXXX, I made a {$1000.00} balance transfer from one credit card to another, resulting in a net {$0.00} change, but on all three credit bureau reports, my score dropped by XXXX points. I have never seen an increase or decrease by such a huge amount for any change in my credit use, and in this case, my credit use didn't change since I was decreasing the use of credit on one card by {$1000.00} and increasing my credit use on another card by {$1000.00}. The credit bureaus have no mechanism to dispute or even submit an inquiry about credit scores online or by phone, because " they are not a component of your credit reports but are, instead, numbers generated by the credit scoring models based on the information as it appears in your credit report at the moment it is requested. '' How is it possible that a net {$0.00} change in credit use can result in a XXXX point decrease from which there appears to be no way to recover those points? I have never seen fluctuations in my credit score that were bigger than XXXX points one way or the other. Also, if there is transparency about credit scoring that would help me understand my situation, where is it disclosed and why is it so difficult to find it? When you call the credit reporting agencies, there is no way to talk to someone. You're simply referred to the website, where there is no way to submit an inquiry or dispute regarding scoring issues.
