Consumer Narrative

Equifax continues to falsely re-update disputed items without completing an investigation in the first place. Equifax must investigate and properly modify verified information or remove inaccurate and unverified information and provide dispute results in writing. On numerous occasions, Equifax has failed to do this. In several instances, Equifax has not only failed to investigate, but has falsely updated unverified information within days, sometime within hours of my valid disputes. Currently, Equifax continues to falsely update clearly incorrect information as described below : PERSONAL INFORMATION- ADDRESS Equifax continues to falsely report an address that doesn't even exist in a USPS or XXXX search. The address on my report is fictitious, and yet each time I dispute it, Equifax updates it as correct on my report. Had it conducted an investigation as required, the address would have been removed. PERSONAL STATEMENT Equifax listed a personal statement that I never uttered nor ever asked to be added to my credit report. I HAVE NEVER APPLIED FOR ANYTHING WITH xxx creditor. I have asked Equifax numerous times in writing and over the phone within the past two years to remove the false statement and Equifax still has not. Personal statements are optional, yet it repeatedly refuses my requests to remove a personal statement I never placed on the report to begin with. COLLECTIONS/OTHER ACCOUNTS Equifax continues to allegedly verify invalid accounts as valid in response to my disputes in one day and sometimes even less than one day after I filed valid disputed information. ACCOUNT HISTORY DATA POINTS Equifax refuses to correctly update account histories balances and credit limits on several accounts I have disputed. Where the creditor updated to XXXX and XXXX correctly, Equifax continues to claim its false " dispute results '' are accurate, maintaining incorrect credit data on several of my open accounts and not correcting any data points that are clearly incorrect. FAILURE TO NOTIFY OF DISPUTE RESULT On several occasions Equifax would allegedly " complete '' an online dispute in its website and not have any documentation of the results available either online or via mail. When I called and asked why, reps are advising to resubmit the dispute. Which is wrong and unethical as Equifax is legally obligated to provide dispute statuses in writing.
