I sold my house in XX/XX/2022. I received my portion of the sale from the title company, but the mortgage company did not. After receiving calls from debt collection one month after selling the home, an investigation into the location of the money was opened by XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) and Mr. Cooper/Nationstar mortgage. The FBI was involved and it was found to be a case of fraud, as the fax machines at the XXXX were hacked. Even while the investigation was underway, the debt collection office continued to relentlessly call and email, saying I was delinquent on payments. They only stopped when they received a cease and desist letter from the lawyer at the XXXX and when XXXX began writing checks in the amount listed as due for my monthly payments. When the investigation was complete, the insurance company for XXXX paid Mr. Cooper/Nationstar the remaining balance. Even when there was fraud discovered, the missed payments stayed on my mortgage report and have continued to be reported to credit companies, impacting my credit. They then closed out the account with the missed payments on file.
