I use Zelle through XXXX Bank. In early XXXX some user sent me money because he mistyped the email address he meant to send it to. Zelle through XXXX XXXX does not give you any option to accept or refuse the transfer- it just automatically does into your account. It appears that when the other user reported his mistake to his bank, they did something to get my access to Zelle completely blocked. Zelle refuses to engage with me or provide any sort of reason for preventing me from using the system despite having provided indisputable documentation to my bank that I had nothing to do with this transfer and it was a mistake on the other side. Zelle 's blocking my access to the system now prevents me from doing anything to return the money to reverse the mistaken transfer. The only option they have left me would be to wire the money through some XXXX party service which leaves me at risk because there is no guarantee that the other user wouldn't find some way to get the transaction reversed and if he were to pursue that - from Zelle 's point of view, they would only see the original transaction and not that I returned money. I am being threatened with a lawsuit if I do not return the money but at the same time my bank is telling me not to return the money through an alternate method as there are common scams that involve this. Zelle has unjustifiably left me in an impossible position having spent nearly XXXX hours of time on the phone with XXXX Bank trying to resolve this but Zelle refuses to discuss the issue other than say I am permanently blocked from using the system. They provide no reason and refuse to be willing to conduct any sort of inquiry as to what happened.
