In XXXX XXXX XXXX there was a fraudulent American Express account opened without authorization. The identity thief had access to my personal information, mail and banking information. They opened up several accounts in my name while I was working and traveling abroad. Unbeknownst to me these accounts were open and active for well over a year. When I contacted American Express to let them know these accounts were not authorized by me and that I was a victim of identity theft that scoffed at the notion and refused to remove the accounts. I have spoken with their fraud department on several occasions including in XXXX XXXX XXXX. Yet despite police reports on my credit profile and a police report I sent directly to American Express they refuse to delete the account. Currently because of the fraudulent account I can not conduct business nor obtain a new home because the account is severely damaging my credit standing. I ask that the account be deleted and my credit corrected expeditiously.
